Can the way a lifetime of receipts are organized be a window into how a couple lived?

Nearly 10 years since lugging a suitcase full of receipts my aunt and uncle kept in Germany, I am spending time with them. The receipts made the trip home with me after my aunt passed away and I was collecting her things, they struck me at the time. Unsure why she would have kept them, I assumed they were important in the way they were organized. I'm slowly finding out they seem rather ordinary. Carmen und Heinie were perfectionists in their own right, together they might have been obsessive. Ill never know of course but in the process of sorting, cutting and reshaping. I'm remembering details of our time together. Sometimes I don't trust my memories, not because I expect to remember every last details rather because time has a way of altering our experiences.
